Death

Death comes in on a white steed to guide all to the next stage, its embrace inevitable to all. Sometimes signifying the end of life literally, Death also often signifies the death of the status quo. When one learns to let go of fear of Death, Death is precisely what is needed in order to be reborn.

Keywords: endings, new beginnings, rebirth, transformation, release, change

General Meaning: Time for change, and as the old saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens.

Personal Interpretation: Everything has a time, a beginning, and an end. Get ready to let go of something old for something new.

Reversed Meaning: stalemates, stagnation, fear of letting go, resistance to change

Affirmation: "An ending is simply a new beginning for me to embark on."

Symbolism: Death, black flag, white horse, four people, sunrise

Imagery Notes: Death - a skeleton in armor to symbolize that death comes for all of us, no matter how prepared we think we are to stave it off; black flag - representing the end of things; white horse - a living creature to lead us to new opportunities; four people - at various stages of their earthly life; sunrise - a beacon of hope and symbol that inevitably, time will go on

People: Thanatos and Charon, the Grim Reaper and shinigami, angels and spirit guides

Places: That Place Between Life and Death, hospitals, the earth

Media:

Personal Insights & Other Notes: Fear not this card, for death has become something we've learned to fear. But the end of something can be the beautiful beginning of something. Death is also metamorphosis, transition, transformation, evolution... does a true death even exist? Only if we wish for it to.
